The view from the chicken coop. Which also is a really cool old stone building. |
Then Richard and I continued to work on the fencing project until lunch time. We almost completely finished the whole thing. The weather was absolutely crazy today. It was incredibly windy and sometimes it would randomly start raining. Then it would be really sunny. Then the wind would bring in more storm clouds and it would rain again. But all the while the wind was howling intensely.
Hammered these staples in the posts to hold the barbed wire in place. |
Is it just my 5 year old mind, or do you immediately think "poop" when you see this? |
The recycling facility was quite something. Everything had a place and it was all clearly marked with big signs. I thought it was quite impressive, especially compared to the places I've been to in the US.
Side note; the driving was really disconcerting at first because of the whole "driving of the left side of the road" thing. Even though I wasn't driving myself, it was really kind of strange.
When we returned, I was went inside and did my best to make myself not smell like a McDonald's. Then I had dinner up in the tree house with Adam. We had vegetarian haggis, which was pretty good. I know I've already said this a million times, but I will say it again. That tree house is the coolest thing ever. Did I mention the tree goes right through the middle? And a stove. A full kitchen. And a fantastic view over the loch. It really is a magical spot. The whole farm is...
Another WWOOFer was supposed to have arrived yesterday, but she cancelled last minute. Which at first I was psyched about because then I could have the room to myself. But ever since my fellow American WWOOfer left, it has been pretty lonely and the work a bit dull. Don't get me wrong; it's been great. But it really is nice to have another person in your position (meaning being a WWOOFer). Anyway, I was really thinking about how much I was missing having Mike around today, and thinking about how it's a bummer the other girl didn't come, when Adam informed me that he found a replacement! Apparently a German girl is coming on Monday. I am super psyched! Not only do I get a companion, but I get to practice my German!
Vegetarian haggis, eh? Hmmmmm! Looks as if your LL Bean Wellies are coming in handy? Did the farm cat help out at all? I think having a German roommate will be great- you can really use your language skills.
ReplyDeleteThe German roomie will probably just want to practice her English, but don't let her get away with it.
